The following are some of the resources available at Lancaster Conference Congregational Resource Center:


Drescher, John M., editor. Invocations and Benedictions for the Revised Common Lectionary. Nashville: Abingdon Press, 1998.
Supplies one invocation and one benediction for each Sunday of years A, B, and C of the lectionary. In addition, worship material for 14 special occasions and seasonal celebrations is included. A scripture index provides assistance with locating invocations and benedictions related to specific biblical passages.

Flinn, Lisa and Barbara Younger. Creative Ways to Offer Praise. Nashville: Abingdon Press, 1993.
Combines time-honored forms of worship with new ideas especially appealing to today's worshipers. These innovative ideas address every aspect of the traditional worship service, calling the congregation to participate more fully in the worship interaction.

Kraeuter, Tom. The Worship Leader's Handbook. Lynnwood: Emerald Books, 1997.
A helpful book for those who plan and lead worship regularly. The book's question-and-answer format makes it instantly user-friendly, addressing topics of known need and interest.

Kreider, Eleanor. Communion Shapes Character. Scottdale: Herald Press, 1997.
A survey of the history of communion in the Christian church. Kreider challenges contemporary Protestants to rediscover the Supper as a source of spirituality, ethics, and community. This is a fine text which can contribute to sacramental renewal within the community of faith.

Mark, Arlene M. Words for Worship. Scottdale: Herald Press, 1996.
A resource for pastors and leaders to enrich and deepen worship together. Certain emphases, while churchwide in nature, clearly represent Anabaptist heritage: community, peace and justice, reconciliation, service and obedience, along with themes of adoration, atonement, and assurance.

A book about working together to lead others in lively and relevant praise. It's about the key elements: music, scripture, drama and video. It's about worshiping in an interactive way and about being authentic as a leader.

Sledge, Sharlande. Prayers & Litanies for the Christian Season. Macon: Smyth & Helwys, 1999.
The words that describe our deepest longings for God, our highest praise for God, and our most distant wanderings from God are often the starting points of our prayers. The book focuses each prayer or litany on one word in the vocabulary of our faith, moving through the liturgical year by voicing the language of our hearts.

Thielen, Martin. Ancient Modern Worship. Nashville: Abingdon Press, 2000.
